Explore the Ravivari market with my eyes
Ravivari market, also known as the gujari bazaar in Ahmedabad; which takes place every Sunday as the name suggests itself, which is nearly 596 years old. This traditional market was started by Sultan Ahmed Shah in the year 1414. It usually starts around 7 am and closes at approximately 6 pm.
One can find basically everything here, be it new or old, from automobile accessories to household articles.
I’ve seen people from all over the place visiting the gujari market, from all different ages to different castes, for a regular household shopping spree or just to explore these parts of the city.
What to expect: As mentioned before, this is an age old traditional market so you’ll find a little bit of everything over there; people exchanging goats and chickens to evergreen film camera, rolls and vintage watches. There’s a huge collection of books available at very low costs as they’re pre-loved. You can also find a great deal of thrifted items; if this is a topic that interests you then you might just get lost in that pool; just a subtle warning you might end up spending a lot more on little things then what you anticipated.
A Treasure Trove for Collectors: If you have an inclination for hoarding or collecting antique pieces, Ravivari Market will undoubtedly captivate you. From vintage statement pieces and custom perfumes to rare books, this market holds a myriad of treasures waiting to be discovered. The key to success is to be attentive and observant; with a keen eye, you might just find exactly what you're searching for right before you.
Here are some glimpses captured by me at The Ravivari (Gujari) Market. If you liked what you just read or found what you're looking for, make sure to share it with someone you'd like to explore the Ravivari market with.
